Final Ceremony 19/20, Lessons learned and Transitions
On Monday we celebrated one more school year at [p3]. This is when we celebrate our goals being accomplished as a team this past year and our men that have made it!!
This past school year has been wild, no matter where in the world you live in…and for us, we have definitely felt it. This makes it one more reason to be thankful and celebrate the men that made through the school year and made it into their next training year! We are very proud of them: Tedros & Ansuman made it through the most-intense training year, their first year of vocational training as Carpenters, during their first year they attended vocational school 4 days a week and one day a week were with us at [p3] learning in our carpentry. They learned really intensively, even through Corona! Ibragim & Hanna made it through their second year of vocational training as Carpenters!! They lead the way encouraging the other men here at [p3] that it is possible and they enjoy sharing their tips on learning!
Through some months, we moved our school to be based online through Video-Conference classes. We were surprised that even our retired-volunteer Math-teachers decided to take on the challenge, learn how to use the video platform and use new techniques to achieve our yearly goal of getting ready to enter vocational schools. Our math volunteer teachers even doubled up on their hours to make sure every one of our EQ’ler was understanding the topics! I am still so in awe and so thankful for their huge commitment, dedication and heart which they teach our men. This is [p3]!
Unfortunately, we ended up losing some EQ’ler along the way, due to some burocratic processes and misunderstandings between official offices, which made us understand a whole lot more of the different agents and their paperwork. To accommodate to this new found challenge and others that were totally new this year, we have to invested in the middle of the year school year in new processes and structures here at [p3]….this has caused a lot of time and resources but this is what we are about. We want to take the failures, challenges and make sure we are able to deal with them better in the future. We want to learn and have learned a lot this past year.
(EQ’ler= this is how we call our men that take part of our main one-year program, which goal is to prepare them to enter Vocational School! We also have other programs here that we offer, such as vocational training in Carpentry and weekly activities for refugees, which just arrived in Germany and not know the language (FIM))
Next week, all of our team will be back from vacation and we have one week full of reflection, evaluation, and preparation for the new school year. I have been preparing for this week the past few months and I am looking forward to our results next week.
On September 1st our new Team of motivated EQ’ler join our team. We will dedicate a whole week to Introduction and different Workshops to make sure they understand what we are about, our timelines and they can look forward to the fun things we have planned for this new school year.
Transitions are not easy, saying Goodbye is not easy, evaluating every program we offer, gathering Feedback takes time, and then switching into dreaming again for our new crew, getting ready to motivate at 7.45h is something we need to be ready for in two weeks. So we take this time seriously and I am definitely looking forward to lead our team through it these next two weeks.
So friends, thank you for sticking with us through thin and thick, encouraging us every step, sharing our posts, talking about [p3], sharing about [p3] with your family and friends and trusting us with your dream furniture to make your home more comfy and stylish. We really appreciate it and are looking forward to one more year with you!
